Classified national security information and arms, ammunition, and explosives MUST be stored in a General Services Administration (GSA) approved security container, vault, or other approved secured area. GSA approved security containers and vault doors MUST have a GSA approval label on the front of the equipment. If the approval label is not present, the equipment is not GSA approved. Even if the approval label is present, there may be a reason to question the products' security integrity. An inspection by an authorized inspector can resolve those questions. If a container passes inspection, the inspector can relabel the container or door.

Course Description
This course teaches how to confirm
if a GSA container or vault door is up to standards
and can be labeled GSA approved. You will be given instructions on the latest regulations and updates to the inspector's course, covering all related topics including; inspection procedures, containers, vault doors and locks.
Successful completion of this three day course requires that you pass a written, as well as hands-on, test on all aspects of inspecting and recertifying GSA containers. Successfully passing this course earns you the GSA certification of: "GSA Certified Inspector", and will be valid for a period of three years.
As a GSA Inspector, you will have the authority to inspect and re-certify, or revoke certification, on any GSA approved container or vault door.

Prerequisite
You should have completed at least three days of formal instruction on GSA locks, and be completely familiar with installing, operating and programming the FF-L-2740 locks, as well as the mechanical GSA locks. No instruction is given on these locks during the three day recertification course. You should also have experience working with the GSA containers themselves. Successful completion requires you to have this experience and knowledge prior to taking this 3 day inspector certification update course. |
