The General Services Administration (GSA), in conjunction with the Interagency Committee on Security Equipment (IACSE), Storage Equipment and Locking Systems (SEALS) Subcommittee, oversees the GSA courses taught at LSI. The objective of the GSA program is to establish minimum standards of training in certain areas, and to certify those students who meet those standards.

LSI is one of only 2 locations worldwide to meet the needs for GSA training and certification.

Course Description

The comprehensive course will give you hands-on instruction on the approved methods of servicing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and certifying GSA: Locks, Vaults & Containers. You will also learn the proper means to perform covert and forced entry into GSA Containers.

For Inspector Certification the student will learn how to confirm if a GSA container or vault door meets the Federal Performance Specifications and can be GSA approved. The student will be instructed on the latest regulations and updates. Related topics including; inspection procedures, specification updates for GSA approved containers, vault doors and locks.

This is an ideal course for any U.S. military, government & commercial locksmith. Learn all the skills required to service, maintain and inspect GSA approved security containers.

This course was designed for anyone who needs to know how to successfully service, maintain, perform covert and forced entry and repair GSA Approved Security Containers.

•  Security Information Program Specifications: Federal, Military, DOE, NISPOM and DoD
•  Mechanical combination locks: Installation, servicing, combination changing and overviews of S&G 8400 Series, S&G 8500 Series.
•  Electromechanical combination locks: Installation, servicing and combination changing on Mas-Hamilton X-07, X-08, Kaba Mas X-09 and overviews of LKM7000 pedestrian doorlock and CDX-09.
• S&G 2740 Installation and opening, setup module function, servicing, and troubleshooting.
•  Diagnostics: Extensive, hands-on diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical and electromechanical combination  locks
•  GSA Approved Security Containers: Operation, service, troubleshooting and maintenance of security file cabinets, map & plan containers, weapons containers and vault doors
•  Neutralization and repair of lockouts, Federal Standard 809A Extensive hands-on drilling of both Black and Red Label security containers

Inspector Criteria:

Successful completion of this course requires that the student pass a written, as well as hands-on practical test on all aspects of inspecting and recertifying GSA approved security containers.

Successfully passing this course earns the GSA certification of:
"GSA Certified Inspector", which is valid for a period of three years. After the term of three years, to maintain the certification a recertification test must be taken and passed online or in person.
As a GSA Inspector, the student will be authorized to inspect and re-certify, or revoke certification, on any GSA approved container or vault door.
