Course Description
This 10 day course teaches the basics of access control systems. You will be able to return to your employer, business, or agency and put your new skills to work the same day installing access control devices. The course starts with basic concepts, technologies and definitions used in the access control industry. Next you will install several popular battery operated stand alone access control locks on our classroom door panels. You will learn how to program each one from its keypad or through the use of a hand held programmer. You will also be exposed to the software that is used to assign access rights and to load the hand held programmers. Building on that experience you will learn some fundamentals of basic electricity and how they directly apply to installing and servicing access control systems. You will install electric strikes, electrified locks, and power transfer devices. You will learn how to connect them to a programmable numeric code system, a single door proximity system, and a multi door computer controlled system. You will also learn how to install and configure the software that controls the systems. |
